Mise en scene

Limited, basic because its animated. titles like water splashes are cleverly done perhaps some live action needed.

camera work

Good variety of shots
the camera moving about is good because it makes the sea look rough
could include some more angles.

Editing

Quite a slow pacce

big map which has been tea stained and burnt round the edges to give a old rustic feel authentic feel, the maps below is like how we would like ours to be like.

Pirate ship that will be pictured moving from island to island.

old compass to give the impression of history and maybe a sense of using it to lead some where unknown. this also helps to back up our genre of adventure because compass is found in most adventure movies, like pirate of the Caribbean.

There is some good blog work here.
You need to do a mood board to help effectively communicate your idea. I would also like to see a bit more research into your chosen genre. include some clips and discuss the features of those films that you are influenced by.
It is also essential that all group members write an analysis of an opening sequence and put it on the blog.
After the pitch you need to flesh out your idea and start on your storyboard and shot list.

Synopsis of film

Our film will be a children's adventure film. Where our characters find themselves on a quest to retrieve an object stolen from them. In the opening sequence you will see the object being taken in a mysterious way then the main character will wake up in shock and will immediately he in contact with another boy then it and another until a few characters are all speaking together. The characters will all be youngish characters and will all hold different roles and skills like the goonies also the characters will all be quite comical with each other as the film will not be deadly serious. As for location i think an inside location would be better as it would allow us to film the waking up and the stealing of the object and it would be warmer as well.

Analysis of the Goonies

The film The Goonies was made in 1985 and the idea was first created by Steven Spielberg. The Goonies is an example of a childrens adventure film and the conventions which are generally associated with this genre can be seen throughout this opening sequence of this film. The first image of this film is the title of 'the goonies' where the dot in the 'i' is a skull and crossbones. It makes you wonder that there is going to be treasure or something along the same lines in this story, which has been used in lots of other childs adventure films eg: treasure island. The story then cuts to a prison warden gathering prisoners, he then comes to a prisoner who is pretending to be dead but then he manages to escape. The music used when the prisoner is escaping and going to the car is quite fast paced and it keeps an element of humour with the dramatic high pitched sounds.

1. A supernatural thriller is when the conflict is between main characters, usually one of which has supernatural powers. Example of supernatural thriller are Ghost rider, what lies beneath and The Sixth Sense.

2. A British social realist drama is representative of real life, with all its difficulties. The stories and people portrayed are everyday characters, usually from working class backgrounds. Typically, films within the social realist canon are gritty, urban dramas about the struggle to survive the daily grind. Example of British social realist drama are This is England, The full Monty and Football Factory.

3. An adventure story for younger audiences is typically applied to works in which the protagonist or other major characters are consistently placed in dangerous situations. examples of Young adventure is The Goonies, The Golden Compass and The Incredibles

4. A teenage romantic comedy are movies with light-hearted, humorous plotlines, centered on romantic ideals such as a true love able to surmount most obstacles. Romantic comedy films are a sub-genre of comedy films as well as of romance films. Because of their appeal to women, romantic comedies are sometimes called "chick flicks". Examples of a teenage romantic comedy are Mean Girls, What Women Want and Mr. Deeds.

5. A crime caper with an ensemble cast is a crime film in which there is no designated main character. An example of a crime caper is The Italian Job, Swordfish and Gone in 60 Seconds.
